Mission Chocolate in São Paulo
Two moms walk into a coffee shop… and the result is an unexpected spark in the parallels of raising little kids while simultaneously pouring your heart and soul into a business.
I recently had the chance to meet Arcelia, owner and chocolatier at Mission Chocolate, maker of the beloved chocolate bars we have in our shop.
I learned so much about her knowledge of chocolate, their sourcing, and the creative inspiration behind her flavors and gorgeous packaging.
Arcelia has an intimidating resume in the chocolate industry and runs a successful global business producing the most awarded chocolate in Brazil using minimal ingredients. But like me and any other working mom, she also feels she does not have enough hours in the day.
Sitting across from Arcelia in her beautiful chocolate shop in the Brooklin neighborhood of Sao Paulo, and hearing her describe the stop-and-go process that allowed for family time made me realize that managing ambitions is a common thread in balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship.
Our other shared experience? And this one is hard for everyone… saying no often is crucial to getting the important things done and essential for preserving the time we want to spend with our families.
I left inspired to continue this everlasting pursuit of balance between a love for motherhood and a passion for my work, and to continue to push big dreams forward, one little idea at a time.
