The Slow Bakery

Take me back to @theslowbakery in Jardim Botanico in Rio. This artisanal bakery done the Carioca way was the perfect start to my day. Here are my five favorite things about this visit:

1️⃣ They have a levain in a tropical country! I come from the land of sourdough (San Francisco fyi) and if Rio now has sourdough I might be ready to move. The bread was flavorful and delicious.

2️⃣ They slice and GRILL their Pao de Queijo for you

3️⃣ There is a wall of natural wines for you to take home or enjoy here, it was my first encounter with Pet Nats and Orange Wine in a wine shop here

4️⃣ The water faucet… because needing to order mini bottles of water to stay hydrated is wasteful and expensive and it is my least favorite part about Rio. There is a better way!

5️⃣ The best thing since sliced bread is… sliced artisanal sourdough bread. American bakeries take note, we’d love to take your loaves home perfectly and thinly sliced.
