Labuta Mar Happy Hour

Someone recently told me that what they love the most about Rio is the spontaneity, and @labuta_mar is the perfect place to go hang with no agenda or set timeline. You can come here for a meal, but it’s also for the in between, the lets grab a bite and see what’s up kind of place. The vibe here is laid back and easy, the food is captivating for every mood, and like a true Carioca, you just might forget what time it is and stay longer than you had planned.

Labuta Mar is (obvy) seafood focused, but within that there is a mix of reliable snacks like fritto misto, a to-die-for crab-filled croquette, and some creative bites for the food curious, like the marinated deviled egg umami bomb with kewpie and masago. On the heartier side you can get an octopus dog (it’s a WHOLE thing in Rio) or their daily Prato Feito. If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I live for a Prato Feito, the Brazilian plate composition that fuels me every day, and here they get down with fresh fish and a variety of veggies to go on the side of rice and black beans.

We were here on a quiet weekday afternoon, an intentionally planned visit aligned with oyster wednesday. But, come here on a weekend and you’ll enjoy a “scene,” where beach goers meet up with nighttime pre-gamers for cold beer, crudo, and often a little sambinha on the side.

A special thanks to @lola.feitoamao for providing on-theme accessories for this visit 🦞🐠💙
